Why it's useful
You can always use a regular towel to cover and dry your baby after a bath. However, baby hooded towels will help to keep your baby's head warm.
Some hooded towels also come with adorable animal ears (e.g. little bear) and patterns that can be fun both for you and for your baby.
What to consider
Size:
Look for the appropriate size. There are newborn-size towels as well as sizes for older babies. The hood for the larger towels will be too big for your little newborn.
Materials:
Softness: Look for ultra-soft materials like XXX, YYY, and ZZZ
Thickness: Thicker towels ([definition of thick]) will keep your baby warm between their bath and their comfy pajamas.
GOTS or OEKO-TEX certification: We recommend GOTS or OEKO-TEX certified towels made from natural materials to minimize the risk of dermal exposure to harsh chemicals. Read more here [link].
Important! We recommend pre-washing all textile baby items before using to minimize the chance that any residual chemicals or packing dust don’t irritate your baby’s skin.
How many to get
Having 2-3 towels on hand means you always have a clean one handy.
Don’t get too many at once! Babies grow out of them quickly (after ~6 months) and you’ll need to size up before you know it.
