Why it's useful

  • Cloth bibs are useful from Day 1 - they’re great for catching drool and protecting your baby’s clothes during feeds.
  • Cloth bibs can also be used when your baby starts solids to prevent stains on your baby’s clothes… at least in the area the bib covers!

What to consider

Material safety

  • GOTS or OEKO-TEX certification: We only carry GOTS or OEKO-TEX certified burp cloths made from natural materials to minimize the risk of dermal exposure to harsh chemicals. Read more here
  • Important! We recommend pre-washing all textile baby items before using to minimize the chance that any residual chemicals or packing dust don’t irritate your baby’s skin.

Practicality

  • Thickness: thick enough to keep your baby's clothes dry.
  • Absorbency: absorbent enough that drool, spit up, or milk doesn't roll down the bib and onto your baby's clothes.
  • Size: Bibs come in many sizes, meaning the area on your baby's chest that they cover. Large ones cover more, but they can be cumbersome to put on and take off. We recommend testing out a few different sizes/shapes to see which ones you like the most.
  • Adjustability: Many bibs adjust to the size of your baby's neck (e.g. with snaps in the back), which is very practical as your baby grows.

Style

  • Your baby might be wearing these a lot; bibs can be matched to the clothing you're buying for your baby for an added pop of style

How many to get

Start with one bib per day, plus a couple extra just in case. That means at least 7-10 if you do laundry once a week. You can adjust as needed.
